Serena Williams Feeling Impacts of Social Distancing

Social distancing measures is causing for millions throughout North America and Europe to begin feeling on edge. This is how Serena Williams, one of the most notable tennis legends, expressed how she’s feeling to social media supporters. Williams was forced into confinement after the American government implemented social distancing measures. Numerous athletes and celebrities have created TikTok Accounts during this period, including the 23-Time Grand Slam Champ. These videos related to Serena’s daughter and the mother’s concern for her safety.

Speaking to supporters through her recently registered TikTok Account, Serena Williams noted that she’d been implementing social distancing measures for two weeks. Considering that this athlete is often travelling to engaging with the world, her anxiety is slowly rising and prompting an on-edge feeling for Williams. Whenever the tennis champion has been involved with the public for groceries or needed supplies, she’ll glare with anger towards individuals that are sneezing or coughing. Serena Williams did mention that afterwards, she feels guilt, shame and then sadness for the other individual. This person could be slightly sick or infected with the deadly virus.

Williams Impacted with Concern for Daughter

These fears grow tenfold for Serena Williams whenever her daughter coughs, sneezes or expresses that she has a sore throat. There’s nothing parents can do during this period for their children, with Covid-19 having no viable solutions. Unlike the common cold or influenza, which can be stopped with antibiotics, there’s nothing available to defend ourselves against the novel coronavirus. Serena Williams believes that this virus won’t affect her loved ones or herself, with the proper measures being implemented to ensure overall safety.

Serena expressed that her fears toward Covid-19 grew when the Indian Wells was cancelled. However, she took it lightly to hear and considered that time off with the family. Once the ATP and WTA Tournaments were cancelled until May, that’s when Serena knew this was a severe global pandemic and that protection measures must be implemented to ensure her families safety. It should be noted that all formal and professional tennis events have been terminated following Covid-19. Williams believes that we’ll all get through this and that things will return to normal by summer if everyone practices social distancing. The chances of this happening are minimal though, with people often ignoring the rules governed throughout the last few weeks.
